Till a few years back it was so simple to write about myself as everything was so well planned and executed by my dad – when and where I will be born, which school and university I go, whom and when I marry etc etc. Where ever and whatever I am today in my life – most of the credit goes to him and I am so proud of the way he has bought me up. It took me just few minutes to write about myself some years back when I had to send my biodata to the Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India, to be a part of a trade delegation to USA but I have been thinking for long to write this one as I am so confused about myself now. May be that’s what midlife crisis is. I am an entrepreneur to start with running a medium enterprise. Over the last few years, dabbling into many things – painting, singing, cooking, playing piano, etc, I am convinced that photography is my passion. I find myself in camera mode visualizing all that I see throughout the day. I have set a target for myself to turn into a professional photographer in the next 5 years. Traveling across the globe, capturing people, landscapes and nature would be a dream profession. I love traveling to new places and so far have been lucky to visit 16 countries. Another hobby which I am enjoying and also developing gradually is drumming. My brother in law, Sumant, put me into it and some day I am hopeful I will graduate from the Trinity College of Music, where I have enrolled myself. I enjoyed my daily game of tennis till last year when I was forced to quit after a disc replacement. Reading is another hobby that gives me so much of solace and over the years I have been able to build up a small library at home. Once done with my regular profession, I would also like to be active with intach and work towards restoring our national heritage and culture.
My biggest assets are my two sons – Sameep and Divyansh and I am extremely proud of them for all the values and confidence they have. My wife Minoo has been my support and strength. She has taken care of all the things in our life and family so meticulously that I never have to worry and bother about things “to do” in life and home. Sameep always says that my biggest asset is my patience and all that comes from my mom. She has been such a perfect homemaker. My guru and answer to all questions that I ever have has been my grandfather. He was so clear and perfect in his mind a nd all his strength came from his spiritual thinking. I am very proud of his teaching me “ The Joy of Giving” and he always used to say that “he gets, who gives” and it has been so true. Any virtue I mention about my grandmom will be less. She must be amongst the perfect women god made – beautiful, humble, helping, thinker, well read, soft and at this age also always learning. The one person with whom I identify myself completely is my sister – sangeet. we think and react the same. Though we are seven years apart but i think we have everything common.
The highpoint in my life so far has been my years in rotaract and leading the RI District 3290 in 1994-95. the opportunity that it gave me to serve the community, develop myself professionally and meet and make friends have shaped the way I live my life. my best years have been when I was in my engineering college. Those four years taught me community living. Thanks to internet and facebook etc, I have been in regular touch with most of my college friends.
Not knowing to play guitar has been my deepest regret as of now. During college, I had always dreamt of playing guitar on the banks of Ambazari lake in full moon for the girl living in 5th floor opposite naik bunglow. I believe she never fell for me because I didn’t know how to play guitar. By the way “Naik Bunglow “ is the name of a book I have been writing for last 2 years or so but have never gone beyond the two chapters. Someday I am sure I will get time to finish it off.
My most peaceful and enjoyable moments are time spent with my very close friends and a glass of wine adds to the moment. I count myself very lucky to have good friends around.
